Numerical Damping Calibration Study of Particle Element Method-Based Dynamic Relaxation Approach for Modeling Longwall Top-Coal Caving

چکیده

When using the explicit dynamic relaxation approach (DRA) to model quasi-static rock breakage, fragmentation, and flow problems, especially top-coal caving question, introducing numerical damping into solution equation is inevitable for reducing vibration frequency impact speed of mesh nodes, which significantly affect fidelity computation results. Although DRA has been widely adopted simulate caving, reasonable value calibration method are still open issues. In this study, process modeling investigated by comparing with experimental results, in several geometry parameters drawing funnel selected as indexes. The result shows that most 0.07 interval extra-thick coal seams. Finally, correlation between physical discussed. indirectly reflects fragmentation multi scale mass friction interaction particles during process, reduces intensity system dissipates kinetic energy.

A Super - Element Based on Finite Element Method for Latticed Columns Computational Aspect and Numerical Results

This paper presents a new super-element with twelve degrees of freedom for latticed columns. This elements is developed such that it behaves, with an acceptable approximation, in the same manner as a reference model does. The reference model is constructed by using many Solid elements. The cross section area, moments of inertia, shear coefficient and torsoinal rigidity of the developed new elem...

A cell based particle method for modeling dynamic interfaces

In this talk, we propose several modifications to the grid based particle method (GBPM) [1] for moving interface modeling. There are several nice features of the proposed algorithm. The new method can significantly improve the distribution of sampling particles on the evolving interface. Unlike the original GBPM where footpoints (sampling points) tend to cluster to each other, the sampling poin...

Numerical Study on Spontaneous Combustion of Coal in U.s. Longwall Gob Areas

In order to reduce fire hazards caused by spontaneous combustion in longwall gob areas, a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) study is being conducted by National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) to simulate the spontaneous heating of coal in longwall gob areas. A CFD model was first developed to model the spontaneous heating process in a two longwall panel district using a b...

Field study of longwall coal mine ventilation and bleeder performance

Longwall coal mine operators in the U.S. are required to ventilate multipanel longwall districts, but may have little or no knowledge about what happens to the ventilation air between the inlet evaluation points (IEPs), bleeder evaluation points (BEPs) and bleeder fans. The effectiveness of bleeder performance can directly influence the ability of a ventilation system to remove and dilute coal ...
